(ANSA) - MILAN, DEC 05 - The Cashback revolution starts but Italy will be totally cashless in 5 years while in Europe it is going faster.

The indication comes from the latest European Payment Report (EPR) by Intrum, the main European credit services operator that annually interviews companies on the subject of payments in 29 European countries.

For the 2020 edition, a sample of just under 10 thousand (9,980) representatives of SMEs and large European companies from 25 countries was interviewed: in Italy just under 900 (864).

In detail, 48% of the Italian sample thinks that we will be totally cashless in 5 years, a figure that is growing compared to 34% last year but, in any case, below the European average of 57%. Being cashless also has consequences: 56% think that there will be an increase in cyber attacks while, however, over a third (37%) think that costs will increase for companies and a hoof (33%) believes that a company where payments are dematerialized and result in a loss of customers.

The regions that believe in electronic money within 5 years are certainly Abruzzo and Puglia with 64% and Lazio with 61%. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, however, 50% think we will never be cashless and in Umbria and Molise even 60% think so. (HANDLE).
