Two young researchers from the Reggio Emilia branch of Unimore, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, have won the Mec Hackaton 2020, an international competition for Android application developers focused on the challenges of 5G technologies.
Their project, explains the university, was designed to offer real-time and geo-localized information on the state of city traffic with prediction of queues, alternative routes, availability of parking and accidents and will allow them to participate in the Intel Software Innovator program.
The Mec hackaton is an international competition organized within the DroidCon Italy conference, in which teams of developers and researchers create software applications for mobile devices in the context of advanced innovative services for 5G networks enabled by MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) technology.
DroidCon Italy, organized by Synesthesia, is in its seventh edition and has seen over 4000 participants following the presentations of over 350 speakers from all over the world.
The winners of the 2020 edition are Marco Picone and Stefano Mariani, both Dismi researchers belonging to the Distributed and Pervasive Intelligence Group.
