There are numerous people who see advantages in raising their children bilingual.
As a rule, however, the families choose a language that at least one parent speaks.
Not so at Clooney - at least if you can believe the words of the Oscar winner.
"We did a really stupid thing," he said on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show.
His three-year-old twins would speak Italian - reportedly fluently.
The problem with that: "I don't speak Italian and my wife doesn't speak Italian," says the 59-year-old.
George Clooney has been married to human rights attorney Amal Clooney since 2014.
"We have armed them with a language," George Clooney said of his children.
“I say, 'Go back in and tidy up your room,' and they say, 'Eh, papo stronzo,' and I say, 'Eh, what?'” He joked.
George Clooney did not reveal where the children got their language skills.
However, the couple owns a villa on Lake Como and is regularly in Italy.
George Clooney has received two Oscar awards for his work: once for best supporting actor in the film "Syriana" and once as producer for "Argo".
At the end of the year, the actor should be seen on Netflix in a new role - in the science fiction film "The Midnight Sky".
