A second duck farm was infected with bird flu.
"On Wednesday a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 was confirmed" in the Landes department where "the disease is progressing", the prefecture announced Wednesday evening.

This new outbreak, identified in the town of Saint-Geours de Maremne, has been formalized by the national reference laboratory of ANSES (National Health Security Agency), the prefecture said in a press release.
Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture had formalized the contamination of the first French breeding, located in the town of Benesse-Maremne, in the Landes also.
The slaughter of 6,000 ducks had been ordered.
