(ANSA) - BERLIN, DECEMBER 9 - "Merkel pleads ... The Chancellor's most emotional speech".
The emotional intensity of the Chancellor's intervention today at the Bundestag is also highlighted by the Image, which thus titled the appeal to the need to reduce contacts.
The chancellor said in an almost cracked voice that "if science asks" to bring the holidays forward, "we must find a way".
And he stressed that "until Christmas there are still two weeks, 14 days ...", but at the moment in Germany the infections continue to increase.
"I'm sorry, I'm heartily sorry", Merkel repeated in one of the strongest passages of the speech, but the clusters for mulled wine are not compatible with the agreed rules (the closing of restaurants and the limitation on taking take-away food).
"And if the price is 590 deaths a day, this is not acceptable", he concluded. (ANSA).
