The alleged Corona case on a cruise ship off Singapore has proven to be a false alarm.
An 83-year-old man who had complained of diarrhea had initially tested positive for the virus on the ship.
As a result, the "Quantum of the Seas" of the company Royal Caribbean returned early on Wednesday with almost 1700 passengers on board from a four-day voyage to its departure port Singapore.
The Ministry of Health has now announced that three more tests in a hospital were negative.
The other travelers as well as the crew members had to stay on board until the contact tracing was completed.
All were also tested for the virus before they were allowed to leave the ship.
Passengers were instructed to follow up for 14 days to see if they showed any symptoms of illness.
The four-day cruise was a so-called trip to nowhere around Singapore.
Royal Caribbean wanted to get the cruise tourism in Singapore idle for months due to the corona pandemic back on track.
This new type of cruise - travel with luxury liners without stopping and going ashore - was announced in October.
