Strangers stole around 200 chainsaws and brushcutters from a parked truck.
The theft occurred on Thursday night at a motorway service station on the A7 near Kassel, as the police headquarters in North Hesse announced on Friday.
The stolen goods had a total value of around 160,000 euros.
The thieves escaped undetected.
The 56-year-old driver of the truck said he had stopped at the Kassel motorway service station on the A7 from Wednesday to Thursday.
According to the police, strangers cut the tarpaulin of the tractor-trailer during the night and stole the chainsaws.
According to the information, they probably transported them in another truck or a larger vehicle.
According to his own statements, the truck driver did not notice anything of the theft.
