Alcohol could have extremely negative effects on the brain, especially at this age, so excessive consumption should be avoided.

It is known that excessive alcohol consumption has serious consequences for health in general, but the brain is one of the organs that can be most affected by this addiction.

A study discovered the ages at which the brain is most vulnerable to the effects of excessive alcohol consumption, as well as the irreparable damage that this organ can suffer.

The research, which was carried out jointly by specialists from Australia and the United Kingdom, was published in the scientific journal 'British Medical Journal', confirming the harmful effect that alcohol has on the body.

According to the study, there are three ages in which the effect of alcohol is most harmful on the brain and one of them is in the gestation stage, when it is the mother who drinks.

When there is alcoholism during pregnancy, there is a high risk of permanent neurological deterioration in the child, in addition to which it can suffer congenital defects known as fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

Between 15 and 19 years of age there are similar risks, since excessive alcohol consumption could cause a decrease in the volume of the brain, in addition to affecting the functional connectivity of nerve cells and a deficit in cognitive function.

After the age of 65, you can also suffer serious consequences, such as the risk of developing any type of dementia.

Significantly reducing alcohol consumption during these stages could increase longevity and quality of life for people.
