(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 13 - At least 400 students have disappeared from a secondary school in Nigeria after the attack on Friday evening by a group of armed men.
It is feared that they have been kidnapped even if a part, after having managed to escape from the institute by climbing over the surrounding walls, may have fled to the forest.
Local police sources reported by the Guardian make it known.
The attack began shortly after 9.40 pm when men arrived on motorcycles and armed with assault rifles began shooting at a school in the state of Katsina, in northwestern Nigeria, where about 800 boys were present. The police, called by the school security officers and partly already present on site, responded to the fire thus allowing the students to flee, but according to eyewitnesses many were kidnapped. Hundreds of desperate parents and school staff have begun searches to attempt to track down the students. Also in the field the army and air force. (HANDLE).
