The Berlin police are said to have caught one of the fugitive suspects in the case of the break-in into the Green Vault in Dresden on Monday evening.
Accordingly, one of the twins, who had been searched for by Interpol, was arrested in the evening by special forces in Berlin, said a spokesman for the situation center of the Dresden police on Monday evening.
The «Bild» newspaper had previously reported on it.
The two brothers belong to a well-known Berlin clan family.
Together with three other suspects who were arrested in a major raid in November, they are said to have been involved in the theft of jewelry in the Green Vault in Dresden.
In one of the most spectacular break-ins of the past decades, strangers stole art treasures of barely measurable value from the famous treasury of the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden in November 2019.
Within minutes they stole historical jewelery from an exhibition cabinet.
They then fled in a car that they later set on fire.
