(ANSA) - PIACENZA, 14 DEC - The investigation into the serious incidents in the Levante carabinieri barracks in Piacenza arrived before the judge.
This morning at 10 at the court of the Emilian city the first hearing opened before the judge for those who chose the shortened procedure.
Among the accused carabinieri, only Giacomo Falanga, escorted from the Verbania prison, Marshal MarcoOrlando (former station commander) and carabiniere DanieleSpagnolo were present in the courtroom, the latter two under house arrest.
On the other hand, Giuseppe Montella and Salvatore Cappellano were absent, the two soldiers from the Piacenza barracks on which most of the charges hang and currently both still in jail.
The hearing, attended by the prosecutor GraziaPradella and the prosecutors in charge of the investigation Matteo Centini and Antonio Colonna, began with the lawyers' requests for a civil participation.
Eleven in all, including those of the Nsc and Silca carabinieri unions.
Alongside these, there are also several formulated by people who claim to have been beaten or tortured inside the police barracks, and above all that of the witness who, with his revelations to the major of the carabinieri Rocco Papaleo, allowed the start of the whole investigation.
No request for constitution is currently received from the Arma deicarabinieri, the Ministry of Defense and the Municipality of Piacenza.
