COVID: 19: Three Things You Shouldn't Stop Doing Until Everything Is Under Control

2020-12-14T22:46:57.165Z

Dr. Felipe Lobelo explains what are the three things that we should not stop doing before things get back to normal. Take note!

The first doses of the Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus approved in the United States began to arrive in the states of the country this Monday morning and, although the vaccine will be a fundamental tool to help control the pandemic, there are three things that will not you should stop doing until everything is under control.

According to Dr.

Felipe Lobelo

, epidemiologist and expert in population health, they are the following:

1. Don't run to the doctor for a vaccine.

The expert explained to Un Nuevo Día that there will be a communication and prioritization system, "so you don't have to go to the doctor to ask if the vaccine is already available or if I can get it," he stressed.

"In fact, the authorities are going to call the people who are the priority to be able to go to receive them," he clarified.

2. Don't stop wearing a mask.

Recently, Dr.

Javier Pérez-Fernández

explained that the vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford could protect so that people do not get seriously ill, hence the importance of people continuing to wear masks.

"It could protect so that people do not get sick. Maybe it does not protect so much so that they do not get infected, but it does protect so that they do not get sick [seriously]," he said.

Under this premise, Dr. Felipe Lobelo points out that "even if the vaccine is available, the virus has not stopped being transmitted."

In fact, according to the Johns Hopkins University real-time map, there have been more than 3,000 deaths a day in the country.

3. Don't give up social distancing.

The World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have called for avoiding large family gatherings and parties in crowded places in order to reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

This is because this is one of the best known ways in which the virus is transmitted.

"Especially at this time of Christmas we cannot meet at homes for celebrations because that is the way the virus is transmitted and we can put the health of our relatives at a very important risk," said Lobelo.
