(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 14 - Without religious holidays and weddings, 'warned' by the anti-barrel ordinances of the most intransigent mayors, the world of firework displays risks collapse, with the coup de grace of a quieter New Year than ever.

The alarm was raised by Vincenzo Martella, a member of the Anisp, one of the trade unions representing the companies of the sector who in recent days also sent a letter to the government in which he complained of the incorrect application of the restaurant decree for their companies.

"The indemnities - explains Martella - are calculated on the turnover of April, when in fact we do not work. So the zero of zero is zero".

"With the absence of patronal feasts, weddings and Christmas celebrations we will end up in the pit - he underlines -. There are 6,000 people who risk the job, for an induced that invoices 1.2 billion euros every year".

'Anisp then launches an appeal to the mayors, asking them to withdraw the ordinances that prohibit not only the use of fireworks but also the sale.

"There are dozens of administrations that have adopted such measures - concludes Martella -. We work in law, respecting all European regulations, including those on decibels. We do not want to be portrayed as New Year's terrorists, but as artists who offer emotions".
