Emmanuel Macron announced this Monday evening a referendum to integrate the defense of the climate and the preservation of the environment if this reform were adopted by Parliament.
"It will be a constitutional reform in one article" which "must first go through the National Assembly and then the Senate and be voted on in identical terms.
On that day, it will be submitted to a referendum ”, declared the Head of State after several hours of discussions with the 150 participants of the Citizens' Convention.
The president had come to report while we await the last arbitrations concerning the Climate bill, inspired by their proposals.

“The choices made for ecology must be acceptable to the French,” Emmanuel Macron had warned earlier by launching this meeting.
Concretely, the CCC had proposed adding a precise sentence to article 1 of the Constitution of the Fifth Republic.
Here it is: "The Republic guarantees the preservation of biodiversity, the environment and the fight against climate change".
