The right-wing extremist prepper group "Nordkreuz" in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania apparently also has connections in the education sector.
As announced by the Ministry of Education in Schwerin, a teacher is suspected of having had contacts with the group.
According to information from the State Criminal Police Office, he was suspended from duty last Friday.
Further labor law measures up to extraordinary dismissal are currently being examined, said a ministry spokesman.
The department acted immediately.
"Teachers with a dubious attitude towards the free and democratic basic order cannot remain in the state's school service," it said.
Further details could not be given in view of ongoing investigations.
In the course of criminal investigations against »Nordkreuz« it became known that the group also included former and active police officers who regularly exchanged information in chat groups.
According to the Ministry of the Interior in August, a total of 17 officials and one employee of the state police are suspected of having spread right-wing extremist ideas in the Internet chats.
The Federal Prosecutor's Office is investigating two "Nordkreuz" members on suspicion of preparing a serious, state-endangering act of violence.
Marko G., a former SEK member of the police who also belongs to the "Nordkreuz" group, has already been convicted of violating the War Weapons Control Act.
He started an illegal ammunition dump.
Former Interior Minister Lorenz Caffier (CDU) recently resigned after it became public that he had bought a pistol from a shooting trainer and arms dealer who was allegedly close to the group.
Followers of the prepper scene prepare for a disaster, "X Day", by hoarding supplies.
In some cases they also set up illegal arms stores and - as in the "Nordkreuz" case - keep lists of the names of political opponents.
