(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, DEC 14 - Donald Trump changes plan to include White House executives among the first to receive Pfizer's Covid vaccine, which is being distributed in the US today.
"The people who work at the White House should get the vaccine a little later in the program, unless specifically needed. I asked for this change to be made," he tweeted.
It is not clear why the president wants to change the plan for his entourage, which had also been confirmed by the National Security Council to strengthen public confidence.
"The American people must have confidence that they are receiving the same safe and effective vaccine as the top White House executives under the Council of Public Health Professionals and National Security Leadership," emphasized John Ullyot, spokesman for the National Security Council. As for Trump himself, the president, recovered from the coronavirus after hospitalization in October, said he hasn't yet planned when to get the vaccine but be eager to do it "at the appropriate time." Previously he had claimed to be immune, but according to experts it is not clear if people recovered from Covid-19 are protected from a second infection and possibly for how long.
