The Etna volcano on the Italian island of Sicily has once again spat ash and fire.
Photos showed lava flowing down at night and a thick cloud of smoke that rose from the top of the volcano during the day.
The volcano woke up on Monday night.
Shortly before midnight, Etna spewed lava jets up to 200 meters high, as the national institute for geophysics and volcanology announced.
Until the early hours of the morning, glowing hot lava poured out of the volcano and then cooled down.
According to this, experts at the institute have already begun to investigate the eruptions.
In recent years there have been repeated eruptions in this region of the crater.
Etna is located in the east of Sicily and north of the port city of Catania with more than 300,000 inhabitants.
The mountain itself is over 3300 meters high and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
