Corona masks are more important than ever for everyday life.
A manufacturer has now recalled a product.
And meanwhile new details have been announced.
Warning, do not use!
A manufacturer has
recalled
corona masks
.
The poison aniline was discovered in it during a laboratory test.
The manufacturer has now announced further details.
Update from December 15, 2020:
There are new details on the recall of the
corona masks viral protect
, published on Monday (December 14) on the official homepage.
"We recommend
not to use the
Viral Protect masks from Charge
T100406
and offer an
exchange
or a
return
," it says there.
"The background is a customer complaint about an unpleasant smell."
The manufacturer responded to the advice and commissioned the
Hohenstein Institute
to analyze a sample.
The result of the first analysis (sensor technology) was inconspicuous.
“During the more extensive chemical analysis,
aniline
was found in the
border of
a black mask,” confirms the manufacturer.
"Aniline is a colorless, oily liquid used as a raw material for numerous pharmaceuticals, dyes and plastics."
Then masks from different batches were tested.
"Based on the available analyzes, the
deviation
could be
narrowed down to batch T100406 - black masks of size M and L.
"
According to the announcement, it is now also clear where the affected
corona masks were
sold - not only at the drugstore chain Müller, but also via its own online shop.
The manufacturer appeals to stop using the masks.
He initiated the recall of the corona masks and, according to his own statements, also
informed
the
Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM)
.
The company appeals to customers not to use the batch's corona masks.
Anyone who has bought a mask via the online shop can initiate a return using the contact form there.
Everyone who has shopped at Müller should bring the masks back to their branch, which is also possible without a receipt.
The
aniline
found
is suspected of being
carcinogenic
.
It is still unclear whether there is an actual health risk when using the corona mask.
Müller has also published an update on his homepage.
There it says: “The
recall
, which was
initially carried out as a precaution,
was due to the unpleasant smell of the article.
At this point in time, based on the test analyzes commissioned, there were no indications that could have justified a hazard.
After
further chemical analyzes
,
aniline
was detected in the binding tape
in individual samples
, so that the further recall is now being carried out. "

Recall of corona masks in Germany - do not use, poison discovered
Our article from December 11, 2020:
Berlin -
Corona masks
are currently indispensable for everyday life.
In this way, people not only protect themselves, but also others from infection.
But be careful now!
A product has been recalled.
It is the “
7-month viral Protect mask in sizes M and L
”, which was sold, among others, by the
Müller drugstore chain
.
Recall of corona masks: Batch was sold at least at Müller
Müller spreads
the
recall of the corona masks
on the
official homepage
.
Accordingly, the mask has been sold since October 30th.
"Please check whether your item has been affected and stop using it immediately!
Further measures: The affected article can be returned in any of our branches.
The purchase price will be refunded even without presenting the receipt, ”it says there.
The term "consumption" is probably a bit unusual for a corona mask.
The reason given for the recall is “
strong odor
”.
Is that enough for a call back?
It is probably even worse, as
reported by
produktwarnung.eu
.
The portal reports on a statement from the manufacturer
Media Chain Products GmbH
.
Accordingly, the
AZO dye aniline was
detected
in a mask from batch 100406
.
Recall of corona masks: only strong odor development or real danger?
This was discovered in the
binding of
a mask of the said batch.
According to the portal, the manufacturer's masks are not only sold at Müller, but also online.
It is unclear whether only the products offered by the drugstore chain are affected.
It is also not certain whether only an
annoying odor is
to be feared or even more. Because
aniline
is a
poison
. "Aniline is suspected of being carcinogenic and can presumably cause genetic defects," writes
NDR.de
, for example
. However, the poison can also be found in limited quantities in jeans. In this respect, the amount is probably relevant. One thing is certain: after the
recall
, the said
corona masks
should not be used.
