With the decision to offer most of its content on the Internet without any profit, the director of the Spectacular Theater, Hagai Louver, claims: "In the past, there was a culture minister who fought for us."

With the decision to operate the Specularia Theater online because of the Corona's restrictions, theater director Hagai Louber told Israel Today: "Despite everything that has been said about her, if Miri Regev were today the Minister of Culture, the world of culture would look different."

Nine months have passed since the theater closed its doors, and henceforth Louvre does not intend to remain silent any longer or wait for a solution from the government.

"Malls were opened, full and uninsured flights were opened in isolation when passengers returned to Israel, they also opened museums and street shops but we, the cultural figures, forgot."

In order to make its content accessible to the general public despite the Corona's restrictions, the theater now offers 25 plays, some for adults and some for the whole family, for a ridiculous price of only 25 shekels.

"Obviously we are not making a profit here," Louvre admits, "but we must reconnect the people of Israel to the culture after so many months that the only culture that large sections of the public have consumed is reality and unpleasant news."

The decision to embark on such a venture without any profit also inevitably entails criticism towards the decision makers.

"The Israeli government has forgotten us," says Louvre, "so we went on this campaign of 25 plays for 25 shekels. To mention that we are here even if we are not as noisy as others. I miss Miri Regev."

Regev won without a bit of criticism herself.

"True, but despite the slanders against her, and despite being called derogatory nicknames like 'beast', 'uncultured', 'shouting' and doing as Prime Minister Netanyahu does, bottom line if Miri Regev was the Minister of Culture today, the world of culture would look different. "Then we were sure that there was someone fighting for us, today we could see the horizon at the end of the dark tunnel we have been in for nine months."

What do you think she would have done differently?

"Regev would make order in the government and tell people that culture is much more important than IKEA and open or closed malls. Where is this strong woman who would knock on the table and say that culture comes first?"
