Spain: Congress approves euthanasia law, now in the Senate

(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 17 - With a historic vote, the Spanish Congress of Deputies approved the law that recognizes the right to euthanasia. El Pais reports it. To enter into force the legislation will now have to pass the examination of the Senate. The bill, presented by the Socialist Party, obtained 198 votes in favor and 138 against, 2 abstentions. The parliamentary groups of Ciudadanos, Juntsper Catalunya and Cup joined the majority in the favorable vote. Only the right - PP, Vox and Unión del PuebloNavarro - voted against. With the approval of the Senate, the law should enter into force at the beginning of 2021. (ANSA).
