Ten days in the red zone and 4 in the orange zone, curfew which remains at 10pm and a maximum of two non-cohabiting people who can be added to the dinner.

With the new provision for the Christmas holidays, the government has introduced additional restrictive measures with respect to those that entered into force with the decree law of December 2 and the Dpcm of December 3, both valid until January 15.

Here are the main changes introduced with the new decree which will remain in force until January 6.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR IN RED: There are a total of 10 days in which the red area will be extended to all of Italy: 24-25-26-27 and 31 December, 1-2-3-5 and 6 January.

The rules adopted up to now in the red regions therefore apply throughout the country: "any movement in and out" will be prohibited both between regions and between municipalities and within them "except for proven work needs or situations of necessity or for health reasons".

It is always possible to return to your home or domicile.

Retail commercial activities are also closed - with the exception of food, pharmacies, parapharmacies, newsagents and tobacconists - and bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors, pastry shops and pubs, which can only deliver at home and, until 10 pm, take away.

On the other hand, it is allowed to carry out both physical activity, "individually" and "in the vicinity of one's home as long as it respects the distance of at least one meter and with the obligation to use protective equipment", and sports activities, but even this only in individual form and "exclusively outdoors".

4 DAYS IN ORANGE: Italy will instead be all orange on the 'working' days within the two weeks of the Christmas holidays: December 28th, 29th and 30th and January 4th.

Compared to the red zone, there are two main differences: the shops are open and it is always allowed to move within the municipality of residence.

However, the decree introduces a rule in favor of small municipalities: in fact, travel from countries with a population not exceeding 5 thousand inhabitants is allowed for a distance of up to 30 kilometers "with the exclusion in any case of travel to the provincial capitals".

DEROGATION FOR 2 NON-COHABITANTS AT DINNER: For the entire period of the Christmas holidays, however, the government has introduced a derogation from the prohibitions, which will therefore be valid both in the days in which Italy will be 'red' and in those in which it will be 'orange and is to allow the closest relatives to meet for the dinner "the move to private homes - reads the draft of the decree - is allowed only once a day, in a period of time between 5 and 22 towards a only home located in the same region and within the limits of two more people than those already living there, in addition to minors under the age of 14 over whom these people exercise parental authority and disabled or non self-sufficient people living together.

SECOND HOUSES: Going to second homes within the same Region will always be possible during the entire holiday period, i.e. from 24 to 6 January.

This is what sources from Palazzo Chigi specify regarding the decree on the new Christmas squeeze launched by the government and published in the Official Gazette.
