Spain has requested this Sunday to the European institutions, the adoption of a coordinated community response to suspend or not flights between the European Union and the United Kingdom after the appearance of a new strain in the latter country. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday called the variant of the virus more contagious, though whether it is more deadly is unknown. For this reason, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium have today canceled air connections with the United Kingdom, while France and Germany are studying it. British Health Minister Matt Hancock has assured that the virus "is out of control." Scientists, however, warned yesterday that it is not known whether the new strain actually spreads more than all the previous ones. This Sunday, Germany has added 22,771 infections and 409 more deaths, completing the worst week since the start of the pandemic. In the last seven days, the Robert Koch Institute has reported 173,293 infected and 4,262 deaths, the highest balance from Monday to Sunday since the health crisis began. In Spain, communities continue to adjust their plans to the epidemiological situation. Extremadura has canceled the plan planned for Christmas and maintains a maximum of six people for social gatherings and the curfew at 00.00. In the United States, this Sunday Moderna has begun to distribute its vaccine throughout the country.
