    Word of the year

Hebrew Day 5731, which takes place every year on Eliezer Ben-Yehuda's birthday, will be celebrated this year on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

One of the main projects that the Hebrew Language Academy is offering this year is the selection of the beloved Hebrew word. On the website of the Hebrew Language Academy and on social networks - candidates are now available for public selection over 100 words in six categories, and the public is invited to vote and choose: What is the favorite word? What is the word of the year? What is the funny word? Give it up.

Among the words nominated for the title "Word of the Year", you can find the words "pen", "mask", "closure" and of course - "vaccine", the word that undoubtedly attracts a lot of attention these days.

Apart from "Word of the Year", the academy also offers a choice of a favorite word, a funny word, a rare word and more.

One of the most interesting and entertaining categories is "the rare word", which contains suggestions for selection such as "knuckle", "urlogin" and "malkush".

Voting opened today (Monday), and the results will be revealed during Hebrew Day.

All activities will be available to the general public free of charge on the Hebrew Language Academy website.
