In the case of a suspected fraud scandal at the Stuttgart Clinic, the public prosecutor's office brought charges against five men and one woman.

You are suspected of fraud, inciting or aiding and abetting embezzlement and bribery, as a spokeswoman for the judicial authority said.

Another 20 suspects from all over Germany are still being investigated.

The alleged scandal in the disbanded foreign department, the former International Unit (IU), is mainly about payments to dubious service providers for the accommodation, care and catering of Libyan war invalids.

Billing of services not provided

The alleged fraudsters were employees of the hospital or mediators of health services.

Three accused men are said to have received inadmissible commissions between 2012 and 2015, among other things.

They added it to the patient's bills, presumably without the knowledge of the Libyan payer, and charged services that were not provided.

Two and a half years ago, the public prosecutor's office in the IU carried out searches nationwide.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the damage to the clinic is in the tens of millions.

According to the investigators, the victims are the clinic and the invoice recipients for foreign patients, who came mainly from Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
