Massimo Andreoni, scientific director of the Italian Infectious Diseases Society (Simit), gave a handbook on how to reduce the risk of contagion at the table at Christmas, who spoke today during the Agorà broadcast on Rai Tre.

Furthermore, advises the infectious disease specialist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, "it is also good to open the windows often to ventilate the room: this does not mean having to eat with the windows open, but opening and closing them every now and then". Following the authorization in Italy of the first Covid vaccine, Andreoni explains: "I would recommend the vaccine to everyone, even those who have already had Covid" and "personally I will vaccinate on the 28th: it is an important moment because we have what we have been waiting for for months". As for the organization of the impressive vaccination campaign, he says: "it seems to me that we are moving well, we must make sure that the doses arrive, but I am confident". Finally, returning to the high number of deaths recorded yesterday in Italy, he underlines: "what counts is the average age of the population, which in Italy is very high, but I believe the high mortality is also a sign of how little Italy has been prepared for management, in intensive care, of these maladies. We chased the epidemic by creating new jobs but the professionalism of an intensivist cannot be created in a few weeks.
