The well-known British model

Stella Tennant,

who celebrated her 50th birthday a few days ago, has passed away, the world news agencies were informed today, when a police spokesman declared: "There are no suspicious circumstances" around her death.

Known for her androgynous looks and cropped and edgy haircut, Tenant broke into the fashion industry in the early '90s, starring in fashion productions for reputable magazines including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and marching on coveted runways alongside the top models who dictated the rhythm in the nineties - Naomi and Campodle, Kate Improved.

Versace and Alexander McQueen were just some of the super brands she marched on, and she led big campaigns for Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gauthier, Barbary and more.

In 1993, as an art student, she sent fashion magazine pictures of herself photographed with a nose piercing.

The daring in relation to those years did its thing and so it caught the attention of the reputed photographers Stephen Meisel and Bruce Weber.

The aforementioned success was not long in coming and in the late 1990s Karl Lagerfeld even announced it as Chanel's new face.

Tennant's roots are especially privileged.

Stella's maternal grandfather is Andrew Cavendish, Duke of Devonshire 11th, who served as a minister in the early 1960s in the government of Harold McMillan (who was his uncle).

On the other hand, Stella's maternal grandmother, Duchess Deborah Mitford, is a descendant of the noble Mitford family whose roots date back to the 11th century and one of the "Mitford sisters" - known in the previous century as prominent social women thanks to personal and political ties.

In 1998 she officially retired from the world of modeling and shortly afterwards married French photographer David LeSent, and they have four children.

One of Tennant's best known productions was Vogue Italy in 2011 with her hair styled in the shape of demon horns, a slave earring in her nose, scissors in her hand and a body wrapped in a horribly narrow corset that narrowed her waist.

Steven Meisel photos that caused a stir over the fact that the chosen block, a Prada coat with the black corset on it, has a harsh sexist statement.

Just two months ago, Zara's archive collection was released, a project in which limited edition iconic items were renewed, featuring photos of Tenant from a 2011 winter campaign alongside Kate Moss and Amber Valletta.
