The Minister of Intelligence, Eli Cohen, raised today (Wednesday) at a cabinet meeting the possibility of extending the vaccination campaign to around-the-clock activity, a move that has received support from professional sources.

Minister Eli Cohen during the discussion at the cabinet meeting: "We must work to ensure that the vaccine system works 24 hours a day instead of 12 hours as it currently works."

Apparently, there is support for the move and the director general of the Ministry of Health noted that they are working to recruit as many paramedics and medics as possible, including from the IDF.

Recruited military medics

Hundreds of medics are expected to enlist in the coming weeks in the reserve in order to increase the manpower in the HMOs across the country, with the understanding that the HMOs will not be able to withstand the load of hundreds of thousands of vaccinated in a short time.

The goal of the Israeli government is to vaccinate millions of civilians throughout the country within a few months, which requires a particularly large workforce, and therefore the army is also taking part in the mission.

Prior to the vaccination operations, the ACA decided to recruit reservists who had served as medics or paramedics in the IDF, women and men alike, and these would provide the vaccines to civilians.

The large recruitment of reservists, including those who were recently discharged from the IDF until the age of 27, began yesterday (Sunday) and the IDF reports an impressive response to the call.

In order to prove a "seriousness tax", the medics must commit to at least three months of service in the reserve, with the IDF estimating that the duration of the service will be even longer.
