(ANSAmed) - BUCHAREST, DECEMBER 23 - In Romania, Parliament today voted its confidence in the new center-right government led by Prime Minister Florin Citu, a 48-year-old liberal economist who has so far been finance minister in the outgoing government of Ludovic Orban.
There were 260 votes in favor, 186 against.
The new executive is a three-party coalition formed by the ruling liberal party (PNL), the moderate reformists of USR-Plus and the party of the Hungarian minority (Udmr).
There will be 21 ministries, with two deputy premieres, one for each of the two minor parties.
Citu was appointed yesterday by Conservative President KlausIohannis to lead the new government.
In his first statements before the joint parliament and the joint House and Senate, Florin Citu stressed that his government has two main objectives - to continue to fight and then win the pandemic and restore the economy severely hit by the health emergency.
Romania is the country in the Balkans most affected by the coronavirus, with over 600,000 infections so far and almost 15 million deaths.
