In its
recall, the
company writes
: "In the course of investigations, it was found that the sesame seeds that were processed to manufacture the product
contain
residues of
ethylene oxide
and therefore do not meet the strict requirements of the European Union for food safety.

In the past few months there have been frequent
recalls
of products containing sesame
.
The reason for this is probably in
India
.
Residues of
ethylene oxide
were found on
all products
.
The plant protection product has been classified as harmful in the European Union since 1981.
In countries like India or Sudan, however, the chemical is still allowed and ends up in Europe as part of international trade.
The poisonous, highly flammable gas is currently often found in foods with
sesame seeds
.
For example, several types of
muesli
, cooking oil, grissini sticks, pretzel sticks
and other
baking mixes were
recalled.

Recall of baking mix: Ethylene oxide can cause coma or miscarriage - warning against consumption
Ethylene oxide is
carcinogenic
and can cause
headaches
,
dizziness
and
nausea
.
In the event of contact with high doses, it can even
cause
convulsions
, twitching and
coma
.
Animal experiments have even shown that it
triggers
mutations
and
miscarriages
.
The
Seitz Gluten Free GmbH
warn their customers before their
baking mix
: "If you have closed one of the packages affected or opened at home, we ask you
to refrain from (further) consumption
.
You have the option of taking affected packs to the point of sale where you purchased the product.
The purchase price will be refunded to you there.
If you have ordered the product online, please contact the relevant online dealer with proof of purchase (order number, invoice, etc.).
If you have purchased the product directly from us, please report to info@seitz-glutenfrei.de with a corresponding proof of purchase and the subject "Product recall". "
