Covid-19: the variant discovered in the United Kingdom detected for the first time in France

The Directorate General of Health reports this Friday evening that a man residing in England has tested positive in Tours. Asymptomatic,


Known to be more contagious, it could boost the circulation of the virus if it were to spread.

The variant of Covid-19 discovered in the United Kingdom has been found in France, health authorities report on Friday.

The discovery took place in Tours (Indre-et-Loire).

"This is a man of French nationality residing in England," describes the Directorate General of Health in a press release.

He was detected positive for Covid-19 on his return from London on December 19.

He has since been placed in solitary confinement.

Tests have just confirmed that he was an asymptomatic carrier of the dreaded strain.
