Shortly after take-off in the US state of Arizona, the crew of an Air Canada Boeing 737-Max canceled the flight. Previously, there had been a warning about problems with an engine.

An Air Canada Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft was unable to complete a flight as planned in the USA.

The trigger was evidently hydraulic problems on an engine.

The pilots of the machine received an error message shortly after take-off in the state of Arizona and then switched off one of two engines, said an Air Canada spokesman.

Then the plane was diverted to Tucson instead of continuing to Montreal, Canada, as planned.

There were only three crew members on board.

The machine had taken off from the Marana Pinal aircraft parking lot, where it had previously been parked.

The affected aircraft type is under special observation because the US authorities only lifted a 20-month flight ban on it in November.

It had been imposed by machines of the type after two devastating accidents.

One crash occurred in Indonesia in October 2018, the second in Ethiopia in March 2019.

A total of 346 people were killed in the accidents.

Previous crashes apparently had other causes

As a result, Boeing revised, among other things, the aircraft's critical software.

Airlines also had to revise their training program for pilots of the 737 Max.

It is not known that engine problems played a role in the accidents.

According to experts, error messages like the one in Arizona happen again and again and usually cause little attention.

The incident in Arizona occurred on December 22nd and was only made known over the Christmas period through reports from specialist portals.

Accordingly, the crew sent a so-called pan-pan urgency report, which indicates a risk to the machine or its occupants.

Modern aircraft are suitable for flight with one engine and the crews are prepared for it, said the Air Canada spokesman.

Manufacturer Boeing initially did not provide any further information about the incident.
