, the renowned Puerto Rican salsa singer who became famous for songs such as 'El gallo salsero', 'Siempre seré' or 'Señora de Madrugada', died at dawn this Saturday at the age of 65.

, one of the singer's daughters, confirmed the death to local media in Puerto Rico and, according to the first versions, it was due to a heart attack.
According to information from the newspaper 'El Nuevo Día', which was able to contact the director of the Humacao Criminal Investigation Corps,

The officer indicated that Julio César Rojas López, the salsa singer's first name, had attended a family reunion in the Tejas neighborhood of Humacao.
"When the meeting ended, he went to his residence, but shortly after leaving he stopped at a cousin's house in the Mariana neighborhood, and told him that he was not feeling well," Morales said.
"He asked him to take him to the hospital, but when they were about to leave he collapsed ... Shortly after the paramedics arrived and certified that he died," added the official.
The last presentation that Rojas offered was a virtual concert last Thursday, Christmas Eve, through his YouTube page, together with his orchestra.
Likewise, he participated in the most recent production of the Puerto Rican salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa, 'Colegas', on the song 'Por la calle del medio'.
Also, among his plans he was scheduled to participate in the National Salsa Day, scheduled to take place in the city of Orlando, Florida, in April 2021.
