Two girls aged nine months and two years have been killed in Austria.
The bodies of the sisters were found in their children's rooms in a single-family house in Längenfeld in the Tyrolean Ötztal, said the head of the State Criminal Police Office, Katja Tersch, on Monday evening for the Austrian news agency APA.
The 28-year-old father is considered a suspect.
He apparently attempted suicide after the crime, is lying in the hospital and cannot be questioned.
The two small children were "killed by force against the neck," said Tersch.
The motive for the act remained unclear.
