The mortality rate from Corona among the ultra-Orthodox is 3.6 times that of the general population • Although not all ultra-Orthodox adhered to the guidelines, vaccines actually have a real influx
Much criticism has been leveled in recent months against parts of the ultra-Orthodox sector who did not follow the corona's guidelines and huddled together at tishim, weddings and prayers while risking themselves and their environment.
Despite the great efforts of the Haredi information headquarters in the Ministry of Health, various groups in the sector refused to obey the guidelines, among other things on the assumption that this is a relatively young sector, which will not be dramatically affected by the corona.
The largest shipment of vaccines to date has arrived at Ben Gurion Airport
However, data provided to Israel Today by the Ministry of Health's knowledge center paints a grim picture.
Despite the fact that the ultra-Orthodox sector is the youngest in Israel - its mortality rate is 3.6 times that of the general population in the State of Israel.
Out of about 40,000 ultra-Orthodox over the age of 65, 303 people died, meaning that one in every 132 ultra-Orthodox adults died of corona.
In the secular population, for comparison, there are about 957,000 65-plus people, of whom 2,014 died, one in 475.
Although not all ultra-Orthodox adhered to the guidelines, it is precisely when it comes to vaccines that there is a real influx, backed by all the great rabbis.
And the results are evident in the field.
"The response is insane," a source in the medical field in the sector told Israel Today.
"There are queues in the concentrations and in the ultra-Orthodox cities until late at night."
