"We already knew each other because we were both nominated for an Oscar, I think, in 2012, so we shared that circuit; we traveled all over the place and met from time to time and I thought he was an extraordinary man," George stated.
"And then when we thought about the role, we saw that it was written for a much younger character, like someone in their twenties. I called Kyle (Chandler) and Demián and said, 'I want them to be like the old men on the balcony of the Muppets', those grumpy old men and I thought that could be really funny because it lends itself so well to that, "added the famous.

It should be noted that in early December George Clooney was hospitalized after losing almost 28 pounds to film his new film 'The Midnight Sky'.
According to the publication 'Harper's Bazar', the actor experienced severe pains in his stomach after losing weight drastically to prepare his character in the film.
After entering the hospital, the Hollywood star was diagnosed with pancreatitis.
Apparently, the actor's condition was triggered due to the diet he followed.
"I think I was trying too hard to lose weight quickly and was probably not taking care of myself," she said in a recent interview.
"It took me a few weeks to improve and, as a director, it is not that easy, because you need energy," he explained.
Clooney directs and stars in the sci-fi movie, which follows a NASA team in 2049 that finds a habitable moon around Jupiter, but later discovers that Earth has suffered a global catastrophe.
'The Midnight Sky' is based on Lily Brooks-Dalton's novel 'Good Morning, Midnight' and will be screened in select UK cinemas and on Netflix from 23 December.
