(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 29 - The title, 'SanPa: Lights and Darkness of San Patrignano', the first Italian Netflix original docu-series available from 30 December in 190 countries, perfectly summarizes that controversial community of rehab, recovering from drug addiction, seen by many as a paradise and from others like a gloomy hell full of atrocities.

And all this in those seventies when young people were divided exactly into three: those on the left who wanted to change the world, those on the right who wanted to go back and had tradition as a reference, and finally those, perhaps the most aristocratic, who just wanted to destroy themselves by being little interested. to reality.

"I have seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, hungry naked hysterics, dragging themselves down streets at dawn in search of angry drugs, angel-headed hipsters burning for the ancient celestial contact with the dynamostellata in the machinery of the night .. . ", so sang AllenGinsberg, one of the fathers of the Beat Generation, in the 'Scream'.

Now, through testimonies and repertory images, this five-episode docu-series tells the controversy of the recovery community of San Patrignano founded by Vincenzo Muccioli in 1978 in Coriano, in the province of Rimini.

This is by retracing the twenty years of management by Muccioli himself, from the origins, in 1978 to 1995, the year of his death, and obviously also considering the social, economic and political context of Italy.

The docu-series was produced with twenty-five testimonies, 180 hours of interviews and with images taken from 51different archives.

Directed by Cosima Spender (Palio, Best Editing Award at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival).

The work is a Production 42, with executive producers Gianluca Neri, Nicola Allieta, Andrea Romeo and Christine Reinhold.

The series was written by Carlo Gabardini, Gianluca Neri and PaoloBernardelli.
