According to the Ministry of Health, 5,459 carriers were discovered yesterday - a record since the beginning of October.
The rate of carriers was 5.6 percent out of 97,989 new tests performed.
This is against the background of the criticism of the "closure did not close", which was imposed at the beginning of the week.
At the same time, Minister Edelstein announced this morning that about half a million Israelis have already been vaccinated, of whom about 115,000 yesterday.
According to data published this morning, more than a fifth of the population aged 60 and over has already taken the first vaccine dose - this is 21%.
The data show that the age group in which the most people were vaccinated is 70 to 80-25% of this population (146,000 people), followed by people aged 60 to 70 with 20%. Among those aged 80 to 89, 18% were vaccinated, and among those aged 90 and over, only 11% were vaccinated. The low number may be due to the fact that only this week the vaccination campaign began in the nursing homes, and it may be due to difficulties in accessing the vaccination centers.
