The Corona warning app has received some new updates.
The contact diary, which was recommended by virologists in autumn, is particularly important.
The
Corona warning app has
accompanied numerous people since its introduction in spring 2020.
Since then it has been renewed and improved again and again.
A
contact diary
function has
now been
introduced, which
is intended to have a significantly positive effect on
the
infection
process.
Berlin - The
Corona warning app
has been widely criticized since its existence.
Nevertheless, it is still one of the most important parts of
fighting
pandemic
.
It helps to break chains of infection and thus makes a decisive contribution
to slowing down
the spread of the
coronavirus
.
Accordingly, the further development of the
app
has been
pushed forward
repeatedly by the
federal government
since its introduction in spring 2020
.
Just a few weeks ago, she announced
further
updates
with new functions for the
Corona Warning app
with a
package of measures
.
The aim is to get even more people to download and use the app.
A novelty is the contact diary function for the last 14 days, with the help of which it is possible to record where you have been and who you have met.
Corona warning app with new functions: Recommended by virologists
With version 1.10.x, which has now been published, the app operators have added the contact diary to the Corona warning app.
Early on, there were voices calling for a contact diary to be kept.
This is what the
virologist Christian Drosten
suggested
in October.
In such a diary, all contacts and places visited can be written down daily and
forwarded
to the
health department
in the event of an infection
.
In this way, important information can be transmitted faster and the likelihood of forgetting a contact can be minimized.

The
appropriate widget has now been added to
the start screen of the
Corona warning app
.
This is located below the existing test widget and is entitled "Contact Diary".
To start with a diary, all you need to do is click on the "Keep diary" button.
You will then be forwarded to an overview of the last 14 days in which all contacts and locations are displayed in a list.
All entries can be exported directly using a button at the top right.
In this way, a list can be made available for the
health department
or the
contact tracing team
in the shortest possible time
.
New update of the Corona warning app: Contact diary is intended to curb the incidence of infections
An
encounter
with a contact or a visit to a place can
easily be entered
in the
contact diary
by clicking on the respective date and then selecting the desired tab (person or place).
With the button "Add person or place" you can then add new people and places in the diary.
People and places that have already been created remain saved in the list and can therefore also be selected directly on other days.
This saves some time, since only new contacts and locations have to be created and regular
people
and
locations
already exist.
Even with the new update,
data protection was the
top priority.
The data is only
saved on your
own
smartphone
and is not recorded on any server.
In addition, the contacts and locations entered are automatically deleted after about two weeks.
You can also delete all people and places in the diary overview using the button at the top right.
New in the Corona warning app: Some still have to be patient
The new update is already available to
Apple users
.
For
Android users
, it may take a while before the updated app can be downloaded.
The staggered release is intended.
As the
RKI announced
, the app will be made available to users in stages, because irregularities in functionality that occur in this way can be rectified immediately.
