(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 29 - A New Year's Eve without a ballet at the Teatro Costanzi, but the magical atmosphere created by Tchaikovsky's music with the Nutcracker Suite, a cult of the Christmas period, will not be missing.

On Thursday 31 December at 11.00 the New Year's Eve Concert dedicated to Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij will be broadcast in livestreaming under the direction of Maestro Roberto Abbado.
Under the maestro's laband, the Rome Opera Orchestra will perform the music of Tchaikovsky.
The program includes Polonaise from the opera Evgenij Onegin, Romeo and JulietOuverture-fantasia and The Nutcracker, "suite" from the ballet.
"The program includes - says master Abbado - three masterpieces by Tchaikovsky: nestled between the brilliant Polonaise of his renowned work Evgenij Onegin and the famous Suite dall'Schiaccianoci, there is the Romeo and Juliet fantasy overture which also takes on a religious significance. Tchaikovsky himself writes' I wanted to express the loneliness of a soul whose spirit ascends to heaven '".
