Berlin -
Goodbye mountains of paper and bureaucracy?

easier
for
families
with children with family benefits such as
child benefit
and
parental benefit
.
Instead of individual applications, there will soon be a digital combined application.
And that's not the only improvement to parents, because even the

Child benefit and Co .: Changes to family benefits - the combined application
On Wednesday evening (11.11.2020) the Bundestag passed a law that
should make
it
easier
for
parents
to apply for family benefits.
Instead of
having to
apply for
parental and
child benefit
individually, this should soon be possible in a combined application.
The birth announcement and the naming should also be
requested
in this
combined application
.
The decisive element of the law is the regulation of electronic data exchange.
In
this way,
authorities in
Germany
could call up different data from each other if families authorize them to exchange data.
Citizens would then no longer have to provide double or triple proof, since registry offices, health insurances, parental allowance offices and the German pension insurance can query each other's data.
Family Minister Franziska Giffey underlined that with the law, family benefits such as parental allowance * have finally arrived in the digital age.
This
bundles
the important services for
parents
around the
birth of a child
and
families
can spend more time with the offspring instead of paperwork, said the Family Minister.
"#KinderzuschlagDigital and #ElterngeldDigital already exist. We want to bundle and combine the services that are available so that parents can apply for birth certificates, #Kindergeld, #Parterngeld and the #Kinderzuschlag in one package."

Changes in child benefit and child allowance: families can look forward to it
In the past year, however, paperwork was not the biggest problem for
families
with children.
The Corona crisis * forced parents to work shifts in view of closed schools and daycare centers.
The term home office often has a completely different meaning for families with children.
Because instead of relaxed work in sweatpants, working from home for
parents
often means countless disruptions in their new everyday work.
The child bonus should at least relieve parents a little in Corona times *.
From next year,
child benefit
and
child allowance will also
increase.
From
01.01.2021
, the
child allowance
for families with low incomes will
rise
to a maximum of
205 euros
.
Parents whose income is just above the
Hartz IV level
are entitled to this additional supplement to
child benefit
.
But the child benefit itself will also be increased.
It increases from 204 euros to
219 euros
per month for the first and second child, to
225 euros
for the third and
250 euros
for the fourth child.
The child benefit
had already been increased by
ten euros
last summer
.
Family benefit |

Elevated rate |
---|---|---|
Child benefit |

219 euros (for the first two children) |
Child allowance |
Maximum 185 euros |
Maximum of 205 euros |
Child allowance |

8388 euros |
Changes to the child allowance: reduce tax thanks to the tax allowance
But not only
child benefit
and
child allowance
, the
child allowance
will also be adjusted.
The
tax should be
increased by more than
500 euros
to a total of
8388 euros
.
Parents can either
use
child benefit or the
child allowance
, depending on their income
.
Because the tax exemption reduces income tax, it is particularly worthwhile for high earners.
The opposition criticizes the government's actions, because the higher tax exemptions would primarily relieve families who do not need it.
On the other hand,
families
with very low incomes would
not benefit
,
because the child benefit is offset against Hartz IV.
