A cemetery employee in Würzburg is said to have enriched himself with corpses. Investigators accuse the man of having removed dental gold from the deceased.

Because he is said to have stolen dental gold from the dead, an employee of a Würzburg cemetery administration is investigated for disturbing the peace of the dead.

During a search of his apartment, officials found 30 grams of gold, the prosecutor and police announced on Tuesday.

In addition to dental gold, according to the information, a ring also appeared.

Previously, the employee's supervisor had suspected something after a hint and filed a complaint.

Investigators assume at least 20 cases

The accused was responsible for digging and dissolving graves and reburialing the dead.

In at least 20 cases he is said to have illegally removed dental gold since September 2019.

According to the investigators, the gold apparently came from the dead who had been buried years ago in the main cemetery in Würzburg.

The assignment is therefore particularly difficult.

The accused admitted to having taken gold from a dead person, it said.

He wanted to show his friends.
