In the period February-November 2020 it is estimated about 84 thousand more deaths than the average of 2015-2019.

Istat announces this in a report produced jointly with the ISS.

The deaths of people positive to Covid-19 are 57,647 (69% of the total excess).

The scientific director of Spallanzani, Ippolito, clarifies that "despite the vaccination, the virus will keep us company until the first quarter of 2022".

European Center for Disease Control (Ecdc) alert: variants of the virus are reported in 26 countries, 13 of which are European.

Thus the risk of an increase in cases in Europe increases.

Istat, in the second wave, deaths boom in VdA and Piedmont

- In many northern regions the 'excess mortality' had a greater impact in the second wave than in the first wave in March-April, Istat reveals in the report on incidence of Covid in mortality in Italy.

The most affected regions are Valle d'Aosta (+ 139% against + 71% in April), Piedmont (+ 98% against + 77% in April), Veneto (+ 42.8% compared to + 30.8% in April) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (+ 46.9% vs + 21.1%).

The increase in deaths in November is lower than the first wave only in Lombardy (+ 66% in November compared to + 192% in March and + 118% in April) and in Emilia-Romagna (+ 34.5% compared to + 69% in March)

Deaths from viruses account for 9.5%

 - "From the end of February to November, Covid-19 deaths accounted for 9.5% of the total deaths in the period".

This was revealed by Istat in its report on the incidence of Covid in mortality in Italy.

"During the first epidemic wave (February-May) this share was 13% - we read -, while in the second wave the total contribution of Covid-19 deaths rose to 16% at the national level. If we consider the contributions for age groups Covid-19 mortality "contributed to 4% of general mortality in the 0-49 year class, 8% in the 50-64 year old class, 11% in the 65-79 year old class and 8 % in over 80 ".

Monthly deaths under 50 below the average

- "As regards the age group 0-49, for almost the entire period considered (from January to November, ed) the monthly deaths in 2020 are lower than the average of 2015-2019, with the exception of the March and November data referring to men resident in the North, for which an increase of 11% and 4.9% respectively is observed ".

Istat writes this in its report on the incidence of Covid in mortality in Italy.

The data "can be explained by considering both the lower lethality of the epidemic under the age of fifty, and the reduction in mortality" due to the blocking of mobility and many productive activities.
