(ANSA) - KARACHI, DEC 31 - 26 people, including several Muslim religious leaders, have been arrested for vandalizing and setting fire to a Hindu temple near Karachi, northwestern Pakistan. This was announced by the police, stating that another 50 people, identified thanks to the footage of the attack, are wanted.
A crowd of about 1,500 Muslims yesterday attacked the Krishna Dwara Hindu temple, built by local Hindus in 1920. Local Hindus built the place of worship in 1920. After the division of the subcontinent, the Hindus emigrated to India and in Karachi there were none left. The temple was demolished in 1997 and rebuilt in 2015 by order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. (HANDLE).
