After a short history, but full of upheavals, which lasted 25 years, the Palestinian airline officially ceased operations.
This week, the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced that Palestinian Airlines will be closed, and all that is left now is to find buyers for the two remaining aircraft, the Fokker F50.
The airport's Flying website reports that the company is closing down after a number of years in which its activity was minimal, and that its closure will be permanent this time.
The pair of aircraft, intended for short-haul flights, were manufactured 32 years ago, and were offered for sale as early as September 2020. In recent years, they have been leased part of the time to Niger Airlines Manager.
The maintenance of aircraft of this model is considered quite expensive, and the contract with the African airline was not renewed due to the crisis that befell global aviation this year.

Between Gaza, Port Said and Jeddah
Palestinian Airlines was founded exactly 26 years ago, on January 1, 1995, following the signing of the Oslo II agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and in light of the intention to establish an international airport in the Gaza Strip.
The company was established with the financial assistance of the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, which donated the duo, as well as a Boeing 727.
In June 1997, about two years after its announcement, the company officially began operating charter flights from Fort Said Airport in Egypt to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. .
Subsequently, lines were also inaugurated from Al-Arish in Egypt to other destinations in Saudi Arabia as well as Jordan.
During this period, funding for the construction of the airport in Gaza was transferred by Japan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Germany.
The port, designed by Moroccan architects, opened its doors in November 1998. Its Hanukkah ceremony was attended by former US President Bill Clinton, and the event was seen as an important step towards the establishment of a Palestinian state.
However, in October 2000, following the intifada, the airport in Gaza was closed, and its control tower and radar facility were destroyed by the Israeli Air Force in December 2001.
Thus, the company's base was relocated to al-Arish in Egypt, from where flights to Cairo and Jeddah departed. The Palestinian Authority does not have an active airport.
