At the age of 84, the singer and actor Lior Yeni, one of the most prominent artists in Israel in the 60s and 70s, who was a member of the mythological rooster band, under the direction and guidance of Naomi Polani, passed away.
Yeni, who was born in Kibbutz Afikim, led a career on the stages in ensembles and ensembles alongside a solo career.
He starred in the Cameri Theater at the Cameri Theater's "Kinneret", in the film "Rangers" by Micha Shagrir, alongside Eli Gurlitzky and Ze'ev Revach, and in the musical "I Like Mike" at the Giora Godik Theater where the songs "What does a person need in total" stood out and "The Ride Song."
Yeni has taken part in other films and musical performances, including "The Walking Walking Friends" where he performed the song "In Silence."
Among other things, remember the CD he released in 1969 with the song "She sat by the window" by Bialik to the tune of Drora Habkin, and his first album in 1970 "Thank you very much", which in addition to the theme song included songs like "You wait for me and I will return", "The partisans song" , "On a summer day" and the song in the rhythm of the bossa Nova "Come to Eilat".
Among the projects he participated in: In the lead role in Avraham Hefner's film "Where Did Daniel Wax Go?", An evening of songs by Mikis Theodorakis, collaborations with Aviva Orshalom (who became his partner) under the direction of "Sun Theater" and "Harmonic Stream Center", and albums "Songs Beloved Russians - "Klinka", "My Peace" and "With You Always".
Yeni and Orshalom lived in France for several years in the late 1970s, and upon his return to Israel he returned to Israeli theater.
In 1987 he appeared in the musical "Poor Life" at the Cameri Theater, and composed for Mickey Kam the song "World Casino" to promote the Eurovision Song Contest that year.
In 1995 he put on a show of songs by the Russian poet and singer Vladimir Vysotsky in his translation, and in 2003 the record "New and Old - A Series from Genesis" was released, which includes the songs from his first album and a collection of his well-known songs.
From his first wife, the director Naomi Polani, they had a son and a daughter - Yotam and Aya Yeni.
Upon his return from France and his separation from Aviva Orshalom, Ruthie Polani, Naomi Polani's niece, became his partner.
The two have a son - Sharan Yeni, captain of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
