(ANSA) - TOKYO, 02 JAN - The oldest person in the world, the Japanese Kane Tanaka, turns 118 today. Born on January 2, 1903, Tanaka had already been recognized in March 2019 by the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest woman on the planet at the age of 116, and last September she set the Japanese record at 117 years and 261 days. A resident of a nursing home in Fukuoka, west-central Japan, Tanaka celebrated her birthday by thanking the staff and all the people she shares daily activities with here. According to reports from the treatment center, Tanaka performs daily gymnastics, is able to perform calculations, and is passionate about the Japanese board game Reversi, similar to the Italian checkers. Tanaka usually has a good appetite, is often fond of chocolate, and occasionally indulges in a Coca-Cola.
