(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 03 - US Vice President Mike Pence, who until now had decided not to support the moves aimed at not conceding the victory to Joe Biden, now seems to open to the initiative of a group of Republican senators to refuse to certify the election as president next 6 January.
The BBC reports.
"Pence - assured his head of Cabinet Marc Short - welcomes the efforts of members of the House and the Senate to use the authority they have under the law to raise objections and present evidence before Congress and the American people" and shares "the concerns of millions of Americans about voting fraud and irregularities."
An important change of strategy given that Pence, as president of the Senate, will be responsible for overseeing the session on January 6 and declaring Biden the winner.
Although, according to the BBC, the initiative of the group of Republican senators is doomed to fail because it is predicted that most of the senators will support Biden in the January 6 vote.
