(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 04 - Christ the Redeemer, the best known and most visited monument in Rio de Janeiro, will turn 90 in October and will undergo a complete renovation.
The famous statue, located on the Corcovado mountain, is covered with soapstone: there are thousands of 3cm triangles glued by hand to a fabric and then applied to the structure by the workers.
These stones resist the action of time and guarantee a long life to the work, begun in 1926 and inaugurated only in 1931. (ANSA).
