(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, 04 JAN - The Guards of the Iranian Islamic Revolution have stopped a South Korean-flagged merchant ship, the MTHankuk Chemi, bound for the United Arab Emirates near the Strait of Hormuz. According to iPasdaran, the freighter, which reportedly transported over 7 million tons of ethanol, was seized for "environmental pollution" risks in the Persian Gulf and was taken to an Iranian port. The cargo, which was traveling from al Jubail to the Emirate of Fujairah, was blocked by the Pasdaran ship Zolfaqar and taken to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas for the completion of judicial control procedures, on the orders of the Hormozgan prosecutor. The crew, according to a note from the Revolutionary Guards, is made up of citizens of South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar. (HANDLE).
