(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, 04 JAN - Mexico offers Julian Assange asylopolitics. This was announced by President AndresManuel Lopez Obrador at a press conference, on the day British justice rejected the request for extradition to the US of the founder of Wikileaks.
"I will ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs to take the necessary measures to ask the British government to release Mr Assange and for Mexico to offer him political asylopolitics," the head of state said.
The 49-year-old Australian activist has been detained for months in a maximum security prison on the outskirts of London. (HANDLE).
